7 April Chapter Meeting
Tonight’s meeting was a little different from the rest I had attended since I joined in Oct 09. We had only 2 project speeches. However, it then allowed us to have a “20-min” special segment where we had the privilege of our very own member, John, a Communications Guru conduct a short workshop on Table Topics. Best of all, we were able to use the tips immediately.
Recently I was invited to give a short Inspirational Speech to about 120 people at a bootcamp. I was given only a few hours’ notice. I accepted the invitation without hesitation and I was happy to receive several positive feedback - both verbal and written from the participants and fellow organisers. Had I not overcome my fear through table topics attempts, I would undoubtedly have turned it down.
What I love about Toastmasters Meeting is I can learn without the fear of being “malu-ed” (being embarrassed). The community uses very positive words to encourage and pushes me to achieve much more than I have set for myself. There are different roles for us to take on and to practise. If I’ve been “left to my own devices”, I would probably procrastinate my speeches and taking up appointments. This Club offers strong mentoring and opportunities, I have progressed and so will every active member.
Tonight, we had Conrad delivering his 1st project. Jeffery also had a go at Language Evaluation. Both of them are simply amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed their speeches and their spirit.
It has been great to learn and grow with our dear fellow members who share the same passion.
Thank you, everyone !
