Jei’s wisdom on Evaluation.
There 3 Areas to a speech that can be evaluated.
I will summarise it into 1,2,3.
In 1Speech, there are 2Halfs that can be broken down into 3Areas.
The 2 halfs are the C&D
Content [before delivery] and Delivery
The 1st Half is Content
It can be split into 2- Purpose and Organisation
Purpose
What is the 4 Main purpose? There are the PIIE.
Persuade
Inform
Inspire
Entertain
Organisation
There are different ways to skin a cat so there are different ways to organisation a speech.
But a common thread runs in a majority of them- BBC
Begining. Impact. Attention Grabbing.
Body. PREP, Cause/Effect. Before/After. For/Against. Chronological. etc etc
Conclusion. Message. WIIFM. Action plan.
The second Half is Delivery
It has 3 parts which consist of the 3Vs of total communcation.
Visual is body language.
There are 5 areas.
Stance
Eye contact
Gesture
Face
Movement
Vocal and Verb is the non body language.
Vocal consist of Tone, Rate, Pitch, etc
Verb consist of Vivid words and how/where they are placed. Pauses are here as well.
Put the 2halfs [Content and Delivery] together you have that 1Speech.
Therefore when doing evaluation for that 1Speech, we can evaluate these 2halfs under those 3Areas.
